Thirteen members of the Photo Group and one guest showed up for our first field trip, coordinated by Dennis Rainville Tuesday night, May 20. The North Bridge is a favorite site for Dennis and he’s shown us some of his shots at meetings in the Technical Series. The primary objective of the evening was to capture images that can be used to generate High Dynamic Range (HDR) images. HDR photography involves capturing multiple images at different exposures and then, using post-processing software, to blend them into a final image that covers the tonal range of the scene being photographed. Since we were photographing into the sun (in this shot with a dark subject) it would be very difficult to capture the full tonal range with a single exposure.
Plans are to review the images at the next Technical Series meeting, June 17.
